How long starter studs

If you have always wanted to get pierced and have only gotten to getting one in recent days, you are in for a treat. There are so many kinds of earrings for a fully healed ear, and once your ears are fully healed, you can start experiment with them. Stud earrings are necessarily just posts that will help keep your piercing open as the tissue accepts and seasons itself to the new form, which is to have a small hole in the skin.

No, you can wear hoop earrings only after your ear piercings have fully healed. Before getting pierced, be sure to ask your piercer what kinds of jewelry are available. A professional piercer will be able to guide you in selecting the best one for your needs.

Our ears have different anatomies, and some people have thicker earlobes and flaps of skin. Starter earrings should not be removed at all for at least six weeks. However, this is not prescriptive. It all depends on how your piercings heal. Some people heal very quickly, and within two to three weeks, they can change to something else. However, others take far longer — say a month or even three months in some cases.

Piercings do not heal quickly; that is for sure. Cartilage piercing takes longer healing time. Piercings done on the cartilages of the ears take far longer to recover. Remember that piercings heal from the outside, moving inward. When a piercing is still new on the inside, it is still highly susceptible to infections and irritation. Essentially, this means that you always have to be keen on your actions after getting that piercing.

Professionally, it is recommended that you change your earrings after at least six weeks after getting your piercing. Within this period, it is expected that the wound created by the piercing will have healed, and it is safe to remove the old earrings and wear new ones.

Piercing jewelry is constructed differently than normal "fashion jewelry," and can be made of different materials as well. At Studs, all our piercing jewelry is made of implant-grade metals, such as titanium, surgical steel, and 14k gold. These are the purest metals meaning they have little to no traces of any other materials in them and are therefore the safest for newly opened holes. Labret is the back piece of a piercing stud.

At Studs, these are all flat-backed for optimal healing. This is different than the typical butterfly-back post you are used to seeing on regular jewelry you wear in healed holes. Labrets can vary in length depending on piercing placement and your specific ear anatomy, and a piercer will choose the length that will work best for your healing process. Gauge is the thickness of the post in your ear, and a piercer will decide on this as well for your specific circumstances.

The End or Top is the most common term for the front part of your stud that attaches to the labret. This is what you see in the front of your ear, and it can attach to the labret in a couple different ways.
